Broadband speed much slower than advertised on Fibre 500 package

Hi all, I’ve been a Nexora broadband customer for about 8 months now, currently on the Fibre 500 package which promises 'up to 500 Mbps'. But I’m barely getting around 120 Mbps in the evenings and it’s really frustrating when streaming and gaming. Speeds during the day are somewhat better, but still nowhere near what was advertised when I signed up. Is this normal? I’ve tried rebooting the router a few times, and it’s connected via Ethernet cable directly to my PC. Also checked for background downloads, nothing running. Anyone else experiencing this or any advice on what I can do? I’m in Leeds, postcode LS12 3YQ.

  • Hi Tony, Thanks for reaching out and sorry to hear you’re not getting the speeds you expected. Fibre broadband speeds can sometimes fluctuate due to network congestion during peak hours, especially in the evening, but 120 Mbps on a 500 package does seem a bit low. I’d recommend running a speed test connected directly to the modem (bypassing your router) to rule out any Wi-Fi or router issues. Also, can you confirm the make and model of your router? If the problem persists, I can raise a diagnostic check on your line to see if there’s any fault affecting your service. Please let me know, and we’ll get this sorted for you.
