Hi all, I’m trying to pick a broadband package for a 3-bed semi and I’m getting myself in a tangle. We’ve got 2 adults working from home 3 days a week, a teenager who games, and a smart TV that’s basically on all the time.
Nexora keeps showing me Fibre Essential, Fibre Plus and Fibre Max. The speeds look nice on paper but the prices jump around a lot once you add the hub and setup. I’m not sure if I actually need the fastest one or if it’s just a waste of money.
Has anyone compared them properly? I don’t want to overpay but I also don’t want buffering every evening. Cheers.
Hi MeganB82, happy to help break it down.
In simple terms:
- Fibre Essential: best for lighter use, browsing, email, one or two streams
- Fibre Plus: good for households with multiple devices, HD streaming and regular video calls
- Fibre Max: better if you’ve got heavier use, 4K streaming, gaming downloads and lots of devices active at once
For a 3-bed semi with WFH and gaming, Fibre Plus is usually the middle-ground choice. Fibre Max can be useful if you often have several people streaming at once or you’re downloading big game updates frequently.
A couple of things to check before choosing:
1. Whether your area can actually get the top advertised speed
2. Whether there’s an introductory discount that ends after the first term
3. Whether you need a longer contract for a lower monthly price
If you want, I can also compare the packages based on typical monthly usage rather than just speed. this resolved my question
