Has anyone else had trouble with the parental controls after the latest router update? Mine seem to be blocking random homework sites now. It's my son's maths revision stuff and a couple of science pages, which is a bit daft because I only set it to block social media and adult content. I’m on the Nexora hub in Bradford, if that helps. I’ve tried turning the filter off and on again but it keeps doing it. Is there a proper way to set it without blocking half the internet?
Hi Megan, sorry about that. The update can sometimes reset a custom profile back to the default age-based filter, which is a bit overzealous. Please log into the Nexora app or hub admin page, go to Home Network > Parental Controls, and check whether the device is assigned to a child profile rather than a custom one. If you can, create a new custom profile and allow the specific sites or categories you want. If it still blocks revision sites after that, reply with the browser/device type and I’ll check whether there’s a known filter issue on your hub model.
I had something similar. Ended up being the tablet itself using SafeSearch plus the hub filter, so it was double-blocking things. Worth checking if the browser has any family settings on as well. Not sure if that’s your issue, but it caught me out for ages.
Thanks both. I think it might be the age profile then, because I just clicked the obvious one when I set it up. I’ll try making a custom profile tonight. Slightly annoying because I only wanted a simple off/on switch, but fair enough. If I get stuck, do I need to ring support or can I do it all in the app?
