Bit baffled here. My phone keeps pinging me with high data usage warnings from Nexora but I’m pretty sure I’ve been on home Wi‑Fi most of the week. It’s saying I’ve used nearly all my data already and I’m only 10 days into the cycle.
I’ve got a 20GB plan, usually never get close to that. Is there a way to see what’s actually using it? I’ve checked settings and nothing obvious stands out. Cheers.
Hi MiaH91, I can help with that. High data usage warnings can sometimes appear if your phone is switching between Wi‑Fi and mobile data in the background, or if an app is using data without it being obvious.
If you’re happy to share, can you confirm whether the warning is coming from the Nexora app, a text message, or your handset itself? Also, do you have Wi‑Fi Assist / switch to mobile data turned on?
I had this exact thing last month. Turned out my phone was doing cloud backups over mobile when I left the house. If you’ve got Google Photos or iCloud stuff running it can chew through loads without you noticing. Worth checking background data too.
Thanks both. It’s the text warning from Nexora, not the phone pop-up. I do have Wi‑Fi assist on I think? Didn’t realise that could matter. I’m also on an iPhone so maybe iCloud is doing something in the background. How do I tell which app used it? The app only seems to show totals, not much detail.
Thanks MiaH91. If it’s the Nexora text warning, that’s triggered from usage on your SIM rather than just what your phone thinks it’s doing.
On iPhone, the easiest checks are:
1. Go to Settings > Mobile Service and scroll down to see app usage.
2. Check Settings > Wi‑Fi and disable Wi‑Fi Assist temporarily to test.
3. In Settings > General > Background App Refresh, you can limit apps using data in the background.
If you want, we can also reset your usage alerts from our side and keep an eye on it for the rest of the month. If you still see unusually high usage after that, we can raise it as a billing/data investigation. This resolved my question
