Hi all, not sure if this is me being daft or Nexora's content filtering. I've got the family-safe setting on for my home broadband and it's suddenly blocking random stuff like a recipe blog and a local swimming club site. Nothing dodgy, just normal pages. I only turned it on because my son keeps getting into weird video sites on the telly. Is there a way to keep the filter on but stop it being over the top? I don't want to switch it off completely.
Hi Mia, yes, that can happen if the site gets categorised incorrectly by the filtering database. You should be able to keep family-safe on and add specific sites to an allow list in your account settings. If you want, tell us whether you're using the router-level filter or the Nexora app filter, and I can point you to the right steps.
I've had similar with a gardening forum, believe it or not. Nexora blocked it as 'adult content' for some reason. I ended up turning the setting down from strict to standard. Might be worth seeing if there's a middle option rather than all-or-nothing.
Thanks Sam. I think it's the router one? I set it up ages ago and can't remember. When I log into the app it shows 'safe browsing enabled' but I can't see anything about allow lists. Also, does the filter work on mobile data too or just the Wi-Fi? Sorry, I feel a bit clueless here.
No worries at all. On Nexora home broadband, the family-safe setting usually applies to devices connected to your home Wi-Fi. It doesn't normally filter mobile data unless you’ve also set a filter on the mobile account or device itself. If the app only shows 'safe browsing enabled', the allow-list option may be in the router admin page rather than the app.
Try this: log into your router admin page, go to Security or Parental Controls, then look for Safe Browsing / Exceptions / Allowed sites. If you still can't find it, reply with the router model and I’ll give the exact path. And just to mention, if a site is wrongly blocked, we can also raise it for review.
Ah that makes sense. It was only the Wi-Fi, not my phone data then. I'll look in the router page later tonight. Thanks both — this resolved my question.
